Spring Newsletter 2021

Hi all,

Very wet winter and spring down here, dams are full and the paddocks are a bit boggy.

We had a great Shiraz Festival weekend in early July, with lots of visitors and lots of fun.

The weather was mostly ok and the well-tended open fires and delicious artisan sausages really helped. Thanks to all who attended.

We have finished all the winter/spring maintenance jobs in the vineyard.

Making heaps of compost to be spread on the vineyard later this month and taking another big step forward on our path to fully organic viticulture.

After a long wait, we have released our 2018 Single Vineyard Pinot Noir.

In our opinion, it is the best vintage we have produced since the famed and much-heralded 2013.

Almost 50% sold in just 3 months and still selling fast.

Due to the health restrictions, we have not been able to show this wine as often as we would have liked, however, we have managed a few good scores as follow.

The Real Review: 95 points

National Boutique Wine Show (Sydney): 95 and 97 points

Halliday: 93 points

The wine is drinking beautifully now and will continue to develop as it ages.

Available locally and on our website.

We have just completed the bottling of our vintage19 Reserve wines, our 20 Red our 21 Whites and Rose wines.

The Rose will be added to the website shortly only 250 cases made and is looking great 100% unoaked Pinot Noir fermented to complete dryness.

As we have hit November the Cellar Door in now open each weekend we would love to see you.

Remember all our wines are Vegan friendly and our vines and olive trees are all grown organically as far as possible.
Keep safe and positive, until next time.

Cheers

The Brown Magpie Team

P.s. We have two new Brown Magpie chicks just arrived in the Vineyard, looking very good. A real treat for us!

Hope you enjoyed the lovely autumn and all the beautiful colours. We certainly did. This week, we officially finished the 2021 harvest when we racked all the red wines of the vintage and put them to wood. They look fantastic now, and we will enjoy watching them develop further, before we bottle mid-2022.

To provide a bit of cheer, through what we are sure will be a cold winter, we are participating in the Geelong Wine Winter Shiraz Weekend Festival.
